Junior Geotechnical / Structural Engineer [LONDON]

Job Title:            Junior Geotechnical / Structural Engineer
Reporting to:    Senior Engineer
Hours:                  40 hours per week
Location:           Surbiton, London

Purpose of the role:

The Junior Geotechnical / Structural Engineer is an integral part of the design team and is required to carry out a number of diverse engineering tasks. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluating ground conditions and rock and soil parameters.
  • Early development of excavation sequences.
  • Setting up numerical models and design sketches.
  • Initial ground support design and final lining design using structural analysis.
  • Drafting technical notes and design reports.
  • Producing CAD sketches for the communication of the design principles with the CAD team. 
  • Developing Bill of Quantities, design and construction programmes, resource schedules and other support documents. 
  • Empirical tunnel design and settlement assessment analysis.


Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Minimum of a Master Degree in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering or similar. 
  • Experience of at least one design project.
  • Thorough knowledge of the structural design of tunnels and an excellent understanding of geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience of FE Analyses, calculation reports and production of design packages.
  • Excellent English language, representation, organisation and communication skills.
  • A strong interest and passion in tunnelling projects is essential.
