Job Description:

As a full time employed Graduate Engineer, you will be working in a dynamic and technically focused engineering team, supporting project delivery and client relationships. You will receive mentoring and support from a highly experienced team of engineers who will assist and guide you with your training and development and your journey towards professional chartership.  You will be involved in a wide variety of challenging engineering tasks ranging from feasibility studies, concept designs through to detailed design on various global geotechnical and tunnelling projects.
To support your career development and broaden your experience, you will be involved in analytical and numerical modelling, preparing design documents, producing design drawings, technical reports and health and safety risk assessments. You will also support our senior engineers in helping prepare and respond to commercial and contractual matters on projects. You will also be trained on specific design, analysis and drawing software to enable you to successfully carry out your role. We recognise and value the importance of gaining site experience to further develop your career and this will be provided to you on one or more of our projects.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching ground conditions and rock and soil parameters. 
  • Early development of excavation sequences.
  • Setting up 2D FE models and design sketches [CAD].
  • Initial ground support design and final lining design using structural analysis. 
  • Producing CAD sketches for the communication of the design. 
  • Developing Bill of Quantities, design and construction programmes, resource schedules and other support documents. 
  • Empirical tunnel and geotechnical design and settlement assessment analysis.
  • Participate in and embrace Dr. Sauer & Partners quality management system accredited to ISO 9001:2015 and adhere to the relevant Design Management Plan, if applicable.

We are looking for applicants who possess a genuine interest in applying technical knowledge and experience to analysing problems and creating technical solutions. You will be able to utilise your excellent interpersonal skills in your relationships with multidisciplinary teams both internally and externally. We encourage and promote self-motivation and initiative in the projects you work on and within your own professional development. You will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or geotechnical engineering with a focus on underground excavation. 
  • A genuine interest in underground space through experience such as academic study, internships, or voluntary placements.
