The construction of Chinatown Station is underway following the Sequential Excavation Method (SEM). The SEM structures are being constructed in bedrock of the Franciscan Complex (sandstone, shale and melange) and the Colma Formation (dense sand with interbedded stiff clay).

Friday 5th May, 2017 saw the return of the The British Tunnelling Society Annual Dinner held at The Brewery, Chiswell Street in London.

December 2017 sees the return of New Civil Engineer’s Tunnelling Awards, now in their eighth year. The awards provide a great opportunity for the global tunnelling community to come together and celebrate the industry’s finest tunnelling expertise.

In April, Dr. Sauer & Partners‘ Senior Tunnel Engineers Dr. Panagiotis Spyridis and Dr. Ali Nasekhian attended EURO:TUN, the fourth International Conference on Computational Methods in Tunnelling and Subsurface Engineering which took place in Innsbruck, Austria.

At the end of last year, Dr Sauer & Partners' Andreas Spiegl took to the stage alongside CoLOR's Steve Nuttall and LU's Richard Watts to present work at Bond Street Station for the upgrade project.
